Café Philosophique 10: The Identity of Jekyll and Hyde

Monday, 18 November 2019, at 6.00 pm
Blackwells Bookshop, South Bridge, Edinburgh

This meeting of the Café will be introduced by Alasdair Richmond, of Edinburgh University.

Just how many persons are implicated in the strange case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde? Might the rich history of philosophical treatments of personal identity have something to say to this question? Drawing on a range of philosophical and literary examples, this talk argues that a full census of the case reveals two, one and zero protagonists (in that order).
