Public Lecture 2: “Fact Resistance: what is it, and how can it be cured?”

On Monday, 18 December 2017, at 6.30 pm the second in the project’s series of Public Lectures was given by Professor Åsa Wikforss of Stockholm University.
Professor Wikforss addressed the topical question, ‘Fact Resistance: what is it, and how can it be cured?’

The lecture was held at Stirling Court Hotel, on the university campus, and attendance was free and open to all.

As a result of the political events during 2016 the concept of fact resistance, together with post-truth, has become prominent. Professor Wikforss examines fact resistance from a philosophical point of view. She also considers the psychological mechanisms behind it, and how these interact with the new fragmented media situation. Can we counteract fact resistance?
